Responsible for:

  • Facilitate the delivery of improved performance against targeted suppliers.
  • Mitigate supplier related programme risks where appropriate.
  • Lead and support key suppliers on their improvement journey, using best practice improvement tools including Lean, Six Sigma and SC21
  • Identification, validation and delivery of High impact Improvement projects within the supplier supply chain
  • Work across critical suppliers promoting best practice and ensuring robust processes are in place to support Quality, Cost and Delivery requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and collaborative working
  • Develop Supplier Performance Management functional capability
  • Deployment of the Supplier Development Operating Model
  • Support the ongoing enhancement of supplier development and performance processes in line with national and international standards and best practices
  • Utilising intelligence and risk information to aid the Development and implementation of plans to improve supply chain efficiency, performance, continuity of supply and resilience within prime and sub-tier suppliers
Specific Core Duties
  • Provides technical support to key suppliers, including the requirement for complex problem solving to ensure the optimum solutions are generated
  • Lead supplier development relationships, managing and meeting the expectations of Suppliers, Internal and 3rd Party stakeholders
  • Support supplier review meetings, associated governance board reviews and other aspects of the wider Supplier Management agenda as required
  • Embed Supplier Performance Management Capability within the functions through standardisation of best practice and deployment of Improvement Programs
  • Support and mentor colleagues as a subject matter expert in Supplier Performance Management, Supplier Development, Quality Assurance and Lean / Continuous Improvement across the Supply Chain
  • Supporting the supply chain teams in key strategic supplier assessments aimed at confirming supplier capability or identifying and producing gap analysis and associated recommendations to address capability shortfalls.
  • Monitor supplier improvement progress using Continuous Improvement Plans and supplier performance measures in line with improvement plans, objectives and capture benefits.
  • Develop and deliver training to ensure Suppliers and internal functions are capable and confident to undertake ongoing Improvement activity (Lean, Practical Problem Solving, Project Management)
  • Conduct analysis and provide/deliver executive summaries, reports and presentations when required using Supplier Development trackers, templates and other formats as necessary.

  • Strategic Leadership experience within a Supply Chain Environment
  • Experience across Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain and Quality
  • Excellent communication, influencing and diplomacy skills
  • Ability to understand, analyse and co-ordinate solutions to complex planning, operational & technical issues
  • Awareness of defect prevention toolsets, contractual and quality requirements, and the ability to interpret supplier data to ensure suppliers have completed the contractual requirements in full, utilising relevant tools and practices to ensure appropriate actions are taken
  • Excellent problem solving skills and an understanding of Lean principles and techniques such as DMAIC and process mapping
  • Experience of driving continuous improvement throughout a multiple tier supply chain, including aspects of cultural and leadership change
